Gehring Brewery, Ohio City
Built in 1852 on what is now the southeast corner of West 25 St and Lorain Ave in Ohio City, the Gehring Brewing Co. is said to have brewed the first lager beer in Cleveland. Brewing began in Cleveland not long after the city's founding, and there were over 25 breweries operating in the city by 1910, but national Prohibition seriously hurt the industry.
